Directly behind the arch is St. Louis’s historic riverfront along the Mississippi River.

Some of St. Louis’s oldest streets near the riverfront are made from bricks—a legacy from its earliest days.

The renovations at the Gateway Arch have been going on for a while, but the new park is now open! Lots of visitors have already come out despite the rain.

St. Louis City Hall, built in 1898, was never actually finished. Its weathered stones give the building a very old world feel.

If you’re near the Missouri Botanical Garden looking for doughnuts and coffee look no further than World’s Fair Doughnuts, established in 1976.

No visit to St. Louis would be complete without a trip to the world-class Missouri Botanical Garden!

The St. Louis Art Museum is among the best museums in the state. It houses world famous art and precious historical artifacts, including ancient Egyptian mummies! The Statue outside the museum was gifted to the city in 1904 for the World's Fair.

The Campbell House is a hidden gem in downtown St. Louis. Once the home of a successful fur trapper, this beautiful mansion is now open as a museum. It makes a great afternoon trip!

The Jewel Box in Forest Park is one of the most beautiful greenhouses anywhere. And the interesting thing about it is that it was designed in 1913 to study which plants could survive the high levels of soot and smog in St. Louis that were present at the time. Luckily, now, all the smog is gone and we're left with this beautiful greenhouse!

You can smell the plants and flowers of the the Middle East and many other places.

You have to be quick on the draw taking photos inside the dome, as the humidity causes condensation to build on your lens.

One of photographer Evan Henningsen’s favorite places in the gardens is a quiet greenhouse full of temperate plans from all over the world. The whole area is sectioned into geographical groups.

Built in 1891, the Wainwright Building was once the tallest buildings in the city and one of the world’s first skyscrapers. Today it’s dwarfed by its next door neighbors, but the bright red brick work helps it stand out.
