May 14, 1804
The Lewis and Clark Expedition sets out across Missouri. William Clark and Meriwether Lewis led their 45-man crew out of St. Charles to explore the lands west of the Mississippi River. The team returned to St. Louis about two years later, on September 23, 1806.
