Do you like this?

Glade Top Trail
Perhaps the most scenic byway in Missouri.

Glade Top Trail weaves for 23 miles through Ozark hill country, along narrow ridges. This is one of the most scenic byways in Missouri, and it cuts through Mark Twain National Forest and borders the Hercules Glades Wilderness Area. Spring and fall landscapes are particularly stunning, with the flaming fall foliage including the dazzling red and orange of the smoke tree and spring flowering beauties including the dogwood, rosebud, serviceberry, and wild fruit trees.

You can drive the trail in 45 minutes, but why not take a day and explore the many opportunities such as wildlife viewing, hunting, fishing, horseback riding and picnicking?

Directions:

Northern Entrance: From Ava, take Hwy 5 for 5 miles to Hwy A. Follow Hwy A to County Road A409, which leads you straight to the entrance.

Southern Entrance: From Springfield, take Hwy 125 south for about 50 miles. Entrance is on the left. There is a sign there pointing the way.
