By Linda Couchman, Linda Hailey, and Linda Warner, Missouri Life, Inc., 144 pages, softcover
Children of all ages will learn a little math, a little language arts, a little science, and oh yes, a little history along the way with Seaman, the faithful companion of Meriwether Lewis, in Seamans’s Journey with Lewis and Clark.
Designed as an activity book for children in grades 5 through 8, the workbook recounts the Corps of Discovery’s journey up the Missouri River with special focus on Seaman, the Newfoundland dog purchased by Lewis at the onset of the trip.
Chapters within the book are dedicated to stops in each state along the river and provide historical information about the state as well. In addition to the obviously educational activities, there are several just-for-fun exercises, such as free-sketch pages, games, and picture searches.
