Weekend, evening access added for
Auschwitz. Not long ago. Not far away.

Union Station Kansas City has expanded the hours of its Auschwitz. Not long ago. Not far away. exhibit for Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays beginning February and running through March 19, 2022. Union Station officials announced the expanded hours as a response to public demand.

The exhibition features artifacts and materials—never before seen in North America—on loan from more than twenty institutions and private collections around the world. In addition to the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum and the Museum of Jewish Heritage – A Living Memorial to the Holocaust, participating institutions include Yad Vashem in Jerusalem, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, Auschwitz Jewish Center in Oświęcim, the Memorial and Museum Sachsenhausen in Oranienburg, and the Wiener Library for the Study of the Holocaust and Genocide in London.

“With all remaining weekend daytime tickets already sold, Union Station is pleased to be able to expand our operating hours and hopes to accommodate everyone who would like to visit and experience this life-changing exhibition before it closes,” George Guastello, Union Station president and CEO, said in a news release. ”The additional seven weeks we added to extend the exhibition through March 20 and now the addition of weekend evening hours are important opportunities that should not be missed.”

Since opening, the exhibition—presented in Kansas City by Bank of America—has been embraced by nearly 330,000 guests who have either visited or secured tickets to visit. This marks an all-time record for touring exhibitions at Kansas City’s Union Station.

The expanded Friday and Saturday hours will include 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. entry times. The exhibition closes at 9 p.m. Sundays will include a new 5 p.m. entry time. The exhibition closes at 7:00 pm.

Weekend evening tickets are priced at $30 (plus $1.50 fee). This represents a slight increase over the regular $28.50 general admission ticket. For those able to attend on a weekday, a limited number of daytime weekday tickets are available at regular general admission pricing and with senior, group and student discounts. Advance ticket purchases are necessary for admission.  Walk-up tickets are not available.  Tickets can be purchased online at unionstation.org.
