November 17, 1944: Musician Gene Clark was born on this day in Tipton. He grew up in Kansas City and went on to become one of the founding members and primary songwriters in the 1960s rock group The Byrds, as well as to have critically acclaimed solo career. Clark died of a bleeding ulcer caused by excessive drinking on May 24, 1991. He is buried in Tipton, and you can visit his grave today.
