March 15, 1893: Work was completed on the portion of the Missouri-Kansas-Texas (MKT) railroad between St. Charles and New Franklin. In its earliest days, the MKT was commonly referred to as the K-T, its stock exchange symbol. This common designation soon evolved into the KATY. It has now been converted into the beautiful bicycle tail that stretches across the state.
