June 3, 1906: Josephine Baker—a world-renowned dancer, performer, actor, and civil rights activist—was born in St. Louis. Today, she is included in the St. Louis Walk of Fame and the Hall of Famous Missourians. And if you ever travel to France, the Place Joséphine Baker in Paris was named in her honor.
