June 25, 1874: Rose O’Neill was born in this day. Rose O’Neill was an artist and illustrator who created the Kewpie doll which was popular for many decades. She lived in Branson and died in Springfield. Today, Hickman High School in Columbia honors her legacy with its mascot, the Kewpie.
