July 3, 1989: Missouri's education pioneer, Sister Rose Philippine Duchesne, was named a Saint in the Roman Catholic Church. Sister Rose founded the first house of the Society of the Sacred Heart of Jesus outside of France in St. Louis. Read more about Saint Duchesne and her ties to Missouri here.
