U.S.S. Inaugural was swept away in the flood of 1993. The ship was determined to be a total loss and remains in the same location from the flood. This photograph was taken in August 2012.
August 1, 1993: The year’s flooding reached its peak on this day. Also on this day the Burger King riverboat restaurant and the minesweeper, U.S.S. Inaugural were both torn from their moorings on the St. Louis levee. Flood waters carried them downstream where the minesweeper eventually sank.
