Ulysses S. Grant
April 27, 1822: President and General Ulysses S. Grant was born on this day. Grant was stationed at Jefferson Barracks in St. Louis before the Civil War and fought many battles in Missouri during the war . You can celebrate by visiting the Ulysses S. Grant National Historic Site in St. Louis or Grant's Farm—the historic Busch family property where Grant once worked the land.
