Ulysses S. Grant
April 27, 1822: General Ulysses S. Grant was born today. After graduating from West Point, his first post was at Jefferson Barracks in St. Louis, where Robert E. Lee also served. Later, Grant played a significant role in the Civil War in Missouri. Today, you can visit the Ulysses S. Grant National Historic Site in St. Louis, he lived from 1854 to 1859.
