If the food at Brooklyn Pizza tastes authentic, that’s because it is.
Brian and Karen Atkins are Brooklyn natives, and they say their restaurant reflects the pizzerias that they grew up with. From the red-checkered tablecloths to the food, the eatery seems authentically from the Empire State.
From the stromboli to the pizza, they use fresh whole milk mozzarella and fresh tomatoes. The specialties include garlic and shrimp pizza and Brian’s homemade meatballs, which can be added to a pizza, a stromboli, or a calzone. The meatball sub or spaghetti with meatballs might show off the delicious beef-pork combo the best, though.
If you’re looking to eat a Hawaiian pizza or to watch sports, don’t go to Brooklyn Pizza; it doesn’t have either. The food is classic Italy-via- New York fare, and the environment encourages conversing, enjoying your company, and most importantly, savoring the food.
