Color Rhythm: China features 31 contemporary Chinese watercolorists and provides a more direct understanding of contemporary Chinese art.
In January 1979, Nanjing and St. Louis became sister cities. This is the 37th year since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the United States.
The exhibition explores the development of watercolor painting over the last one hundred years in China. It also depicts the influence of Western painting methods in traditional Chinese watercolor techniques. These innovations have gradually shaped not only traditional Chinese watercolor painting but also the pursuit of Chinese artistic aesthetics and the spirit of the Chinese nation.
Color Rhythm: China is co-curated by Dongfeng Li, Associate Professor at Moorehead State University, KY; and by Hongbin Zhang. The exhibition is co-sponsored by the China Collector Magazine, Chinese United Watercolor Association and the Saint Louis Artist's Guild.
