The sights and sounds of the Midwest will come together at the first-ever Bluebird Music & Arts Festival in downtown Columbia on November 14-15.

Bluebird Music & Arts is a non-profit organization whose goal is to celebrate Midwestern arts and culture. The festival has been in the works for two years now, and more than forty bands with Midwestern roots, including John Henry & the Engine and Atmosphere, Big Smith, and The Redwalls, will come from around the world to perform at several venues in Columbia. A visual arts crawl will feature artists from all over the Midwest from noon until 4:00 pm on Saturday, November 15.

"What we want to do is get someone to experience something they may not have experienced before," says Michael Bostwick, co-director of Bluebird Music & Arts.

The organization is hoping for a turnout of at least two thousand to three thousand people to the music venues. "Our long-term goal is to continue having the festival on a yearly basis," Michael says.

Tickets are $35 for the entire weekend, $20 for a Friday pass, and $25 for a Saturday pass. The visual arts crawl is open to the public. Tickets are available at www.whatisbluebird.com or the Missouri Theatre and The Blue Note box offices at Columbia.
