Fox Trotter Fame

It’s interesting how when you grow up with something it doesn’t always seem like such a big deal, but when you get out away from it, you realize just how big a deal it really is. That is what happened to me and what I came to realize about the Missouri Fox Trotting Horse Breed Association headquarters located in Ava.

Ava is the national Missouri fox trotting capital. Yes, a small town in the Ozark Mountains. It is only appropriate. The breed was developed for the Ozark terrain: rocky and hilly.

Once upon a time, I was a ribbon girl at the annual show held in the fall. That is something I think about a couple of times a year when the horse show starts in the spring and fall. Yesterday the spring show began, and it runs through Saturday night. They’ll be awarding ribbons in the 30th Annual Three-Year-Old Futurity Spring Show and Youth Seminar. It’s the best place to see the finest fox trotters in the world.
